MARGINA Section is an important plant of SOLVENTUL S.A., located in Margina village, Timis County.

ADDRESS:
Margina
Timis County

MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Production of acetated solvents (butyl, isobutyl and sodium), retort charcoal and wood pyrolizis derivatives of wood, wine vinegar, nitrogen solvents, cementing mixtures, isoamylic alcohol, anti-frost liquid, etc.
  • Manufacturing and sale of spare parts and mechanic processing
  • Delivering heating, electricity and other utilities to third parties.

Services:

  • Repairs;
  • Chemical tests and measurements;
  • Fire prevention and fire fighting;
  • Storage, handling and transport.

MARGINA Section is one of the main retort charcoal and acetates producers in Romania.

BRIEF HISTORY

1910
The production of retort charcoal starts in Margina joint-stock company.

1915
The Main Production Edifice is built - a chemical plant to process water obtained in wood pyrolizis.

1932
The production of purified and alimentary technical acetic acid starts. The process is ethyl acetate extraction.

1932
The name of the plant becomes Fabrica Chimica Margina-Resita (Resita-Margina Chemical Plant).

1945
The company becomes widely known in the region as Chemical Wood Distillery No 2 Margina.

1949
The plant starts producing crystallized sodium acetate.

1957-1958

Solvents installations I and II are commissioned, adding ester acetates such as butyl acetate, ethyl acetate, amyl acetate.

1964-1966
Mechanic bottling lines for wine vinegar are commissioned under the name of Vinegar Packaging Hall.

1968
The Margina chemical plant merges with the SOLVENTUL chemical plant, and as of 1976 it is integrated in Petrochemical Plant SOLVENTUL.

1979
New production capacities are commissioned increasing production of butyl acetate and ethyl acetate.

1983-1989
Further development and streamlining of Margina Chemical Platform. Retort charcoal and wood pyrolizis subproducts are first produced. The modern continuous-flux procedure comprises an advanced mechanisation level of all operations.

1990-1995
1 km from the main production facilities new aspersion fields are being commissioned (about 11 ha). The field has the role of a biological advanced treatment stage for wastewater. The investment needs to be completed in order to be commissioned.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Acces to Margina Section is possible through

- road, via DN 68A Lugoj - Deva;
- railroad, via Margina railroad station

All production activities are carried out in one unit.

The Margina Section comprises 37.6 ha of land of which:

20.6 ha for production facilities;
17.0 ha for aspersion fields.
